*Holders of Donguri Card (issued to children attending kindergarten, elementary school and junior high school located in Himeji City) and rojin techo (senior citizen handbook) (issued to senior citizens of Himeji City) are admitted to permanent exhibitions for free. *Persons with disabilities and their caregivers are admitted to permanent exhibitions for free, and to special exhibitions at 50% of the normal admission fee. For more details, inquire with the museum staff.

Access

By train and bus

Get off at Himeji Station of JR or Sanyo Railway and take a bus from Shinki Bus Terminal in front of the station.

  • Take a bus from bus stops No. 9, No.10, No.17 or No.18, and get off at Ichinohashi Bungakukan-mae (about a six-minute bus ride). The museum is about a four-minute walk north from the bus stop.
  • Take a Himeji Castle loop bus from bus stop No.6, and get off at Shimizubashi (Bungakukan-mae) (about a ten-minute bus ride). The museum is about a three-minute walk west from the bus stop.
